John certainly knew how to switch off. This is a photo of him at sunset pulling in a crab net at ‘Moon River’ on Culeenup Island, Yunderup, on the weekend of 12th – 13th February 1995. His comment in the Journal reads: ‘Can’t thank you enough for the marvellous R & R – now back to the “real world”??? S’. John loved being with people, with sharing good fine, good wine, good conversation, and a good smoke, but he also valued solitude – a time to read and reflect. Yunderup was a place and a community he enjoyed immensely.
