John was the best colleague one could ever hope for. He was whip smart, fiercely independent, passionate about the visual arts and travel, full of humor and irony, and able to converse on any topic at the drop of a hat!

He taught me a great deal about Australian Art, and we spent many hours together looking at contemporary art at CIMAM meetings in Brazil, Buenos Aires, San Francisco and Seoul.

I miss him very much, already.
